  • Hopefully you will feel you are contributing to the appearance and quality of the Cumbrian environment.
  • Working with like-minded people is rewarding.
  • Access to support and guidance locally and through the RHS.

Become a Judge

A great way to support others and feel a part of a national campaign.

Judges do not require formal qualifications but must have practical experience in gardening and a desire to share knowledge and encourage others.

Judging takes place from late June to mid July and a degree of flexibility from judges around availability helps the administrator allocate to county-wide entrants. At least one training day is arranged in May to ensure all judges understand the process, criteria and judging forms.

In addition to feeling a valued contributor to Cumbria in Bloom, there is the possibility of progressing to the national Britain in Bloom team of judges.

It is also a great opportunity to see a variety of locations and learn in detail how they perform.

Volunteer with us

Our environment will not be looked after without people showing interest and willingness to make a difference.

Anyone can get involved. You don’t need horticultural experience for as long as you are reasonably able-bodied there will always be something you can help with. If there is nothing happening where you are, see if you know others to join you set something up. Cumbria in Bloom people will help if required.

Local communities rely increasingly on voluntary input; so please see if there is something you think could be improved. Again we will help if we can.

A sense of pride in having made a difference.

Sponsor us

Cumbria in Bloom as a registered  charity has no “trading” income and relies on external funding to exist. Expenses are only those associated with administering the activities communities, groups, schools and tourism businesses engage with. Currently the RHS provides limited but much appreciated support with the remainder coming from competition entry fees and donations principally from independent and commercial bodies; so by sponsoring you can make a vital difference.
