You may have heard of Sawdays. It is a business which, over 25 years, has specialised in finding very pleasant and high quality places to stay. They have recently approached Cumbria in Bloom, though our President, to tell us that they are part of a group offering large numbers of oak saplings which they can make available, completely free of charge, from their Wall (near Hexham) nursery. This is a great opportunity for any of our groups urgently looking for saplings to plant before the end of the April (you could acquire the saplings now and just heel them in until next planting season).
All that you have to do is to email Liz at admin@cumbria-in-bloom.org.uk indicating how many saplings you require. She would then ask Colin Cheyne to make the arrangements, including collection from the nursery and then arrange for onward distribution to yourselves.
So, this is your chance to plant some oak trees in your community. Just decide how many and let us know and we will make the arrangements.
