Young Persons’ Painting Competition

What’s it all about?

This is a competition to encourage and stimulate an appreciation of flowers, trees, shrubs, vegetables, salads and fruits, cultivated and wild in the environment.

Whilst any colourful subject containing flower, trees etc. will be accepted. This year, we would like to see entries that reflect the following subjects: 1) Paintings of School Gardens; 2) My Garden; 3) Wild Flowers; 4) My favourite Flowers.  Paintings could show how plants provide food sources and a range of habitats for wildlife. Inspirational work in this direction will be taken into consideration by the judges.

2010 Winners.

2009 Winners.

How to enter

We ask that entries, portrait or landscape, conform to A4 size. ( Postage on A4 is a good deal cheaper than larger sizes )   Good quality paper should be used.

Mounting the painting on a thin card or coloured paper backboard aids the appearance of the exhibition, but it is not essential. Try not to fold the painting when sending your entry to us.

Please include a typed list of names and ages of your schools entry in the envelope.

Please ensure you have stuck the entry form to the back of the painting, duly completed, with the arrow pointing to the top. This helps us to place the painting the right way up in the exhibition. (Please complete the child’s name in capitals )

Art teachers are encouraged to hold their own mini competition at school and send us your best 10 only.

Group paintings should consist of up to 10 paintings, all of the same subject, e.g. sunflowers. Please indicate if your entry is to be considered as a group on the typed list of names to be sent with the paintings. There is a group trophy for the winners in this section, The Rex Marsden Challenge Trophy. Last years winners were, the children of Bolton’s C of E Primary School, Wigton.

In order to give good representation of winning entries, the judges reserve the right to choose the paintings for the exhibition.
